1. Why is this location important? The area serves as the physical center of the Byway and provides visitors with food, retail, fuel, and other services. Yankee Springs Recreation Area is adjacent to the area. Most of the facilities are open year round (some are seasonal) and are open to the general public.

This is the area that many people think of when they think of the Byway and it is in the middle near where the two counties meet.
