North Country Trail
1.      Why is this location important?  The North Country Trail is a multi-state hiking trail covering 4,700 miles when completed.  This trail connects the M-179 Byway to six other states and showcases the area to those hiking the trail.  This resource provides year-round opportunities and is open to the general public for primarily foot traffic (no horses, motorized vehicles, or bicycles).
2.      How do the resources shown in this photo help to tell the Byway’s story?  This portion of the trail is typical of the trail as it passes through Michigan.  The Byway is known for its rustic nature and outdoor facilities, and this trail is a prime example of these features.
